MechaMurloc 1.0 skin

If I told you the collaborative project this was for, I'd be fed to a ravenous dopefish.

I have to say it looks better in motion, which is what I designed it for- I didn't upsample the texture like I usually do, either, so it's not the highest quality(because I plan to use it for in-game footage). Still, it should serve well.

An update

I got listed on Wow Insider again:

Also, looks like theres some interest in a tutorial, so I'll be getting on that.

Olibith, and a time lapse movie

Back after I helped Soosdon with UE0, Olibith asked if I'd mind doing a portrait for him- I started on one back then, but with all the other stuff I'd been doing it just kinda slipped through the cracks. So anyway, here it is. ^_^

I also posted a time lapse video showing the steps I took after importing the model through Modeler. I did have to make several trips back to Modeler though, as the video shows, to tweak geometry problems and to create the geometry for stuff like the beard, turban, and rebuilding the robe shoulders.

Of course, it really doesn't show the harder part(which most people really seem more interested in) but I only started saving pictures at around that point when someone asked me if I could show them some step by steps, which I realized was a pretty neat idea. I'm probably going to use the WCM blog I've been provided with to put up a brief tutorial, probably covering some basic lighting and skin shading.

Fury

One of the most anticipated warcraft machinima at the moment among action fans is Seksi's Fury. Needless to say, I was interested when he went looking for someone to help edit some textures...
This is just a first shot at what he wanted, we'll see how it works out.

In other news, the job's going well, it seems- cross fingers for me!

ASV5: Preview 2

Update: Ian's tossed me a couple shots from the movie itself.

Kael'Thas, Ace Attorney!

Uh oh.

Azerothian Supervillains 5: Sneak peek

It's been a hectic month for me, working on my own upcoming machinima(previews soon), on my first commercial video editing job, as well as contributing to a couple other movie projects- in particular, Ian Beckman's excellent Azerothian Supervillains. Featuring some of WoW's biggest goon squad members as a rather campy set of supervillains scheming from within the Black Temple, it features ever improving animation and consistently excellent voice acting. Number five, potentially out as early as this week, is the most ambitious yet, and from the bits I've seen, I for one can't wait to see the rest!

Ian and I met in IRC(#machinima on quakenet- check it out!), and he asked what I could do about making a courtroom in wow. It was an interesting idea, and it was definitely a fun, if somewhat frustrating, experience.

My first attempt was to use a room model directly out of stormwind city- you might recognise the one I chose, the large building in the corner of the dwarven district. Looking at the model, though, revealed it to be horribly constructed, presumably due to automated optimization, and so I ended up modeling and texturing the entire room and a few of the objects from scratch, with the originals used as references. Most of the textures are edited version of wow standard ones.
