Blizzcon 2011 second contest progress

Blizz is having a second Blizzcon video contest this year, and this one isn't accepting webcam vlogs so more machinima folks are actually entering. I know Mushanga, Zimtower, and WowCrendor have horses in the race, so there will at least be honest competition.

Blizzard's 20th anniversary contest

So, I made a movie for Blizzard's 20th anniversary contest in 48 hours.

I really hadn't planned to enter, but Paus convinced me that I had to, at least, try if I actually came up with an idea. So I fooled around with some thoughts, but then gave it a rest, not really liking anything. Then I suddeny had a silly little idea and banged it out.

I learned that perhaps the most important thing is not to rush, though- I nearly killed my computer trying to multitask too much. I ended up losing more time with rebooting my computer and poking around inside it to see why it wasn't giving me a display than I did waiting for a render to finish to move to the next part.

Voice acting was done on extremely short notice, completely by amateur talent(including myself!), and thanks to Rob(the guy who plays the original Cad character) for wrangling some actors up for me while I was busy animating. Sadly, my usual suspects like TotalBiscuit wern't free on such short notice(can't blame them there, of course) which probably would have slammed th.

Given all the problems I had(including having to replace a video card during it) I'm pretty happy with the result, though I woulda liked to have had longer especially for dealing with the voice acting.

Assuming it gets into the voting round, I'm gonna need all the help I can with the votes!

Alterac Barracks

No, I'm not dead. I've had some computer-being-dead issues, some illness, and some employment to distract me, though.

This is entirely texture editing, so there are some UV problems with the model that I didn't fix. It is a version of the standard human barracks for Alterac, with snow.

I created it for SirFranc and Chronicles of Azeroth.

Ensidia: The Trailer

Well, time to reveal that major project- A trailer for the raiding guild Ensidia, for some of their live appearances. An online version will follow soon enough, though.

They've gone into PLAID!

Max

And, in the nick of time, here's my second entry to the Dell Machinima Contest: "Max"

Huge thanks to Drewbie on the voice acting, and another big thanks to Michael Martin, who provided the first draft of the voice and helped me with the script.

This movie is one that I came up with last night while I was still not sure that I'd finish Ultimate in time for the contest... so finding myself with about 20 hours to kill, what did I do?

That's right, I made a second movie.

And it felt great.

Even if it was a pain.

Ultimate

My first(and main) entry for the Dell Machinima Contest:

Huge thanks to Caruu and Selserene!

Robber Baron in High Definition

You can now watch the movie in high definition! If you like it, be sure to leave a nice comment on the WeGame page!

(Click to play movie, doubleclick for full screen)

Also, huge thanks once again to the Spoon god, for once again featuring me on Spooncraft! His support is much appreciated!

Better than nothing...

Well, Blizard EU mentioned Busted on community watch... But they apparently decided that I was too American to mention or something. Ah well.

Final Warcraft VI remastered is out!

Though it was disqualified from WWI, the remake of FFVI seems to have made an impact, and I'm very glad to be part of it.

Keep an eye out...

Needless to say, I'm excited about WWI- two of the entrants collaborated with me, and it was certainly an interesting experience. I also, indirectly, got to work with Caruu(who made my clip a lot better with his sound design), which was nice.

In addition to my more typical model editing and animation, this time I also did alogo for one of Soosdon's entries- Baron liked it, and I hope the FFVI fans in the judging will agree... ^_^

With the new contest coming and my crazy meatside situation, it looks like Succession might be delayed, but hopefully not for too long.

« petite Nikita »

I hadn't really understood how huge a fanbase BasonSoosdon had until I saw that the trailer for his movie has 17k downloads on Warcraftmovies.com... Which is more people than I can say ever saw anything even associated with me before.

Speaking of WCM, take a look! See anyone familiar?

And in addition, now he's gotten onto the Blizz community page in yet another country(that's, what? Three, four?) today. And my rendering came along for the ride^_^

See anyone familiar?
Wow, my artwork now graces the front page of WoW Europe's French community spotlight... in French. I cannot speak french, but I've been given a rough translation by my friend Jordanis:

"Benefiting from an always-startling photography, one also notes the presence of a frenchman in the casting, Olibith. True to his reputation, he is here chased by charming damsels. Certainly, the Baron merits his noble titles and continues to opt for his unexpected but continually impressive mixtures: the "Little Nikita" overwhelms the whole of Gnomeregan."

I like the nickname they gave her a lot more than what Baron calls her, so I think I'll stick with Petite Nikita.

Congratulations to Baron Soosdon for getting on there, and for graciously offering to share his well earned French ladies! Also, grats to Olibith for the mention!
